In a creative sustainability drive, the West Bengal Urban Development Authority has launched an “E-Waste to Art” program across 100 urban schools in Kolkata, Durgapur, and Siliguri. Students collect old keyboards, CPUs, wires, and scrap circuit boards to build sculptures and functional art pieces. Art teachers guide them to convert e-waste into lamps, wall art, and planters. Prizes are awarded for innovation, and displays are installed at local science parks and metro stations. This program raises awareness of e-waste recycling and promotes upcycling. Plans include integrating waste segregation into the regular science curriculum. NGOs have pledged to collect and responsibly recycle non-usable parts.
