Odisha’s Health Department, in collaboration with a Bengaluru-based startup, has deployed drones to deliver essential medicines and vaccines to remote tribal villages in Kandhamal and Malkangiri districts. These areas suffer from poor road connectivity and long travel times. The drones, equipped with temperature-controlled containers, can carry 5 kg of medical supplies over 100 km. Within two weeks, the program completed over 60 successful deliveries. Health workers say it has significantly improved immunization coverage and emergency care. Plans are in place to include blood delivery and diagnostic samples in the next phase.
